Worcester, Mass. – The Southern Connecticut State University Owls women's basketball team suffers its second-consecutive loss, being defeated by No. 22 nationally ranked Assumption College, 69-48. The Owls got off to a slow start offensively and Assumption never let them back into the game. The Greyhounds were able to get out to a 9-0 run to begin the game. The Owls allowed the Greyhounds to shoot 52% from the field.
Freshmen
Mariah Hankton (Upper Marlboro, Md.) led the charge for the Owls, scoring a team-high nine points in only a little over 11 minutes played in the game.
Keshia Primo (Mississauga, Ontario) and
Camille Fantini (Andover, Mass.) both chipped in eight points apiece. Primo helped control the boards, pulling down eight rebounds in the game. Guard
Lauren Allen (Sterling Heights, Mich.) tallied four points and three assists on the night.
The Owls move to 1-2 on the season and 1-1 in Northeast-10 Conference action. Assumption moves to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Northeast-10. The Owls return home Sunday, November 27th to face the College of Saint Rose. The game is scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
