Women's Basketball Edged By Pace, 46-42

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team fell short of a comeback, being defeated by Pace University, 46-42. Pace had an eight point lead going into half time but the Owls battled back int he second half. The Owls had the lead down to two points with a minute to play but a costly turnover ended up sealing the deal for Pace. Senior guard Sylvonya Moore (Stockton, Calif.) led the Owls with 15 points and seven rebounds on the night. Foward Camille Fantini (Andover, Mass.) added five steals and six rebounds to go along with 10 points.




Guard Lauren Allen (Sterling Heights, Mich.) chipped in six points, going 3-for-5 from the floor. Moni Smith-Ocran (Bronx, N.Y.) controlled the boards, picking up seven rebounds to go with four points.

The Owls move to 2-3 on the season and 2-2 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Pace improves to 5-0 on the season and 4-0 in Northeast-10 Conference action. The Owls next game will be Saturday, when they travel up to Springfield, Mass. to play American International College. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 1:30 p.m.
