GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team season has come to a close with a first round loss in the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament at Adelphi University, 79-70.
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) tried to put the Owls on his back by dropping a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds to lead the team in both categories.
The Owls finished the season 12-15 overall, while Adelphi improved to 17-9 overall and continues on to the second round of the Northeast-10 Conference Tournament.
The Owls trailed from the opening tip-off going down 12-0 in the first five minutes. Adelphi shot 53.8-percent from the floor to the Owls 34.6-percent in the first half to close with a 12 point lead, 42-30.
The second half painted a different story as the scoring attack for the Owls came alive outscoring Adelphi, 40-37, in the second half. Even though the Owls trailed by as much as 22 points, they continued to chip away at the Adelphi lead. Unfortunately, the second half effort was not enough as Adelphi defeated the Owls.
Trevon Hamlet (Brooklyn, N.Y.) contributed 10 points with five rebounds and five assists, while
Chazz McCarter (New Haven, Conn.) added 12 points.
