Trevon Hamlet (Brooklyn, N.Y.) scored 18 points while sophomore
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) added 16, but the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team dropped an 83-62 decision to Pace on Wednesday night. The Owls trailed by just three at halftime, 42-39, but were outscored 41-23 in the second half.
SCSU dropped to 10-12 overall and 8-10 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Pace is now 12-10, 10-8.
The Setters led for the first 10 minutes before the Owls took their first lead with 9:43 left in the opening stanza. From there, the lead went back and forth for the final 10 minutes of the frame. SCSU led by as many as four, 34-30. but Pace closed the half on a 12-5 spurt to take a three-point lead into the break.
A pair of free throws got the Owls within a point in the opening minute of the second half, but Pace seized control with a 14-2 run. The Setters led by double digits for the final 12-plus minutes en route to the win.
SCSU is back in action on Saturday for a home game against AIC.
