Women’s Basketball Takes Down Pace, 70-57

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team jumped back on track with a win over Pace University tonight, 70-57. Camille Fantini (Andover, Mass.) led the Owls, picking up a double-double in the process, recording a team-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. Fantini also added six assists and three steals.

The Setters were the first to mount any sort of a lead with a five-point cushion with 13 minutes to play in the first half. The Owls quickly turned that around and the game was tied nine times in the first half. Southern Connecticut made a late run and was able to go into the locker room with a five-point lead at half. SCSU kept the lead alive in the second half and was able to get an 11-point lead with six minutes to play. The Setters showed life at the end trying to get the lead down but the Owls never let them back into the game.

In all, the Owls had three players with double-figures. Sylvonya Moore (Stockton, Calif.) chipped in 15 points, three assists and three steals. Moni Smith-Ocran (Bronx, N.Y.) tallied 12 points and four rebounds.

SCSU improved to 18-4 on the season and 15-3 in Northeast-10 Conference action.

The Owls will be back home on Saturday when they host American International College at 1:30.
