NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team opened up its conference schedule tonight with a loss to Adelphi, 92-66.
The Owls are now 2-2, 0-1 in Northeast-10 Conference play. Adelphi is now 3-0, 1-0 in NE-10 Conference play.
A lot of baskets were traded early on by both squads, making the score close for the entire first half. Freshman forward 
Taylor McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) was the only Owl in double figures and led all scoring at the half with ten points, the score at the break was 41-35.
The second half turned into a whole different ball game when Adelphi came out firing. Adelphi began to pull away and the Owls were unable to come back as SCSU went on to lose by a final score of 92-66.
Adelphi's Sade Jackson and her teammate Kelly Mannix led all scorering with 18 points.
McLaughlin posted 14 points and nine rebounds. 
Jackie Beathea (Annandale, Va.) recorded a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. 
Danielle Powell (Pine Bush ,N.Y.) contributed ten points and nine rebounds and 
Keshia Primo (Mississaugua, Ontario) chipped in 11 points with three rebounds.
The Owls will take the court again on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 2 p.m. as they take on Post.
