Primo Hits Career High As Owls Defeat Post, 87-72

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Senior Keshia Primo (Mississauga, Ontario) hits her career high 19 points as the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team gets a 87-72 win over Post University today. 

The Owls are now 3-2. Post is now 2-4.



Post's Aubrey Latham led all scoring with 21 points. 

Primo posted 19 points and nine rebounds. Jackie Beathea (Annandale, Va.) recorded another double-double with 22 points and 18 rebounds. Nicole Grossbard (Pearl River, N.Y.) has a career high 12 points with her five rebounds and six assists. Maria Weselyj (Marlborough, Conn.) chipped in 11 points and two assists. 



Beathea had already hit her double-double going into halftime, which kept the Owls in the game. Beathea recorded 12 points and 16 rebounds before the break.The became very physical, putting both squads in the bonus early on. 21 fouls were committed in the first half alone. SCSU was 2-3 from the line and Post was 8-16, giving Post the lead at the half, 44-41.



The second half continued to be physical. The Owls got into a little bit of foul trouble to start off but made up for it with their 6-0 run with 11:52 left to go in the game. Grossbard was a spark off the bench in the second half beginning with a fast break and-1 play. After that, the Owls began to pull away and the real game-changer was that Southern forced Post to have 30 turnovers. SCSU goes on to win it by a final score of 87-72. 



The Owls will be back on the court on Nov. 26 as they travel to take on Pace at 5:30 p.m.
