Three In Double Figures As Owls Edge Pace, 66-58

PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Three Owls in double figures tonight including sophomore gaurd Sydni Lester (Teaneck, N.J.) helped the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team defeat Pace, 66-58. 

The Owls are now 4-2 overall, 1-1 in Northeast 10 Conference play. Pace is now 0-6, 0-3 in NE-10 Conference play. 

Margo Hackett from Pace led all scorers with 19 points. 

Lester led all Owls scoring with a career high 18 points along with three rebounds and three steals. Keshia Primo (Mississauga, Ontario) continues  her hot scoring with 16 points paired with her four rebounds. Jackie Beathea (Annandale, Va.) posts another double-double with 13 points and 18 rebounds.  

The Owls were down 12-6 in the early minutes before they went on an 11-2 run. Lester helped SCSU take the lead with a layup making the score 17-14 with 9:29 to go in the first half. The Owls' biggest lead was nine but went into the break up by seven, the score was 30-23. 

Southern came out of the break on top, keeping Pace scoreless throughout the first three minutes of the second half. The drought was broken up by a free throw from Pace's Yuni Sher. Pace was able to bring it within two with about about 1:57 left in the contest but were unable to take over. The Owls went on one final 9-3 run to seal the deal. The final score was 66-58. 

The Owls will be back in action after the thanksgiving break, taking on the College of Saint Rose on Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m.
