Box Score

WATERBURY, Conn. - Another career-high night from Keshia Primo (Mississagua, Ontario) helped the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team to win its fifth game of the season tonight, 91-82 over Post.

The Owls are now 5-4 overall while Post is now 4-6.

Primo led all scorers with 23 along with her eight rebounds. Maria Weselyj (Marlborough, Conn.) posted 14 points and two rebounds. Nicole Grossbard (Pearl River, N.Y.) also had a career-high night as she recorded 14 points and two steals. Mariah Hankton (Upper Marlboro, Md.) tallied 13 points and four rebounds. Taylor McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) added 10 points and seven rebounds. Sydni Lester (Teaneck, N.J.) chipped in 10 points as well along with nine rebounds.

The Owls were down 5-2 early on. For the next two and a half minutes the game was scoreless until a lay-up from Primo broke up the drought. After that play was very back and forth between both squads. Post was up by as many as eight points in the first half. The score going into the break was 41-35 in favor of the Eagles.

A couple of early second half buckets from Primo gave the Owls the spark they were looking for. An 11-7 run from SCSU put them out ahead of Post with 14:46 left in the contest, after they took that lead they never gave it back. The Owls shot 44.3% from the field,  21.4% from three-point range as well as 60% from the line. Holding the Eagles to 38% from the field, Southern would end up winning by a final score of 91-82.

The Owls are back on the court on Dec. 19 when they travel to Le Moyne, with tip-off set for 5 p.m.
