WALTHAM, Mass. - Freshman forward Kevin Joslyn (Norwalk, Conn.) scored the first of his two goals less than a minute into the match to spark the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Bentley University Saturday afternoon.

Joslyn gave SCSU a lead that it would never relinquish when he headed in a corner kick taken by sophomore Mads Larsen (Trondheim, Norway) a mere 47 seconds into the match.

Later in the first half, Sebastian Brems (Odense, Denmark) added to the Owls' lead when the freshman struck a pass from Markus Jacobsen (Oslo, Norway) past the Bentley goalkeeper from 10 yards out.

After intermission, Bentley cut Southern's lead to one when Jose Tirado scored off a deflection in the 75th minute.

In the 89th minute Joslyn tucked a pass from Daquan King (Plainville, Conn.) inside the right post to add some insurance.

The Owls' victory in their Northeast-10 Conference opener improves their record to 1-1, (1-0, NE-10).  Bentley drops to (1-2-0, 0-1-0 NE-10).

Southern returns home Wednesday night to take on Assumption College.  The NE-10 match will begin at 7 p.m..
