WALTHAM, Mass. - Freshman forward
Kevin Joslyn (Norwalk, Conn.) scored the first of his two goals less than a minute into the match to spark the Southern Connecticut State University men's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over Bentley University Saturday afternoon.Â
Joslyn gave SCSU a lead that it would never relinquish when he headed in a corner kick taken by sophomore
Mads Larsen (Trondheim, Norway) a mere 47 seconds into the match. Â
Later in the first half,
Sebastian Brems (Odense, Denmark) added to the Owls' lead when the freshman struck a pass from
Markus Jacobsen (Oslo, Norway) past the Bentley goalkeeper from 10 yards out.
After intermission, Bentley cut Southern's lead to one when Jose Tirado scored off a deflection in the 75th minute.
In the 89th minute Joslyn tucked a pass from
Daquan King (Plainville, Conn.) inside the right post to add some insurance.

The Owls' victory in their Northeast-10 Conference opener improves their record to 1-1, (1-0, NE-10). Bentley drops to (1-2-0, 0-1-0 NE-10).
Southern returns home Wednesday night to take on Assumption College. The NE-10 match will begin at 7 p.m..
