Tylon Smith (Manchester, Conn.) surpassed the 1,000 career points total as the No. 9 Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team defeated Pace 94-69.
The Owls' tri-captain had 21 points, four rebounds and two assists.
The junior was one of four players to score in double figures in the win.
Deshawn Murphy (Hamden, Conn.) led the Owls with 25 points. The sophomore, who totaled 20 of his points in the opening period, also had three rebounds.
Luke Houston (Pearl River, N.Y.) led the Owls with nine rebounds, five assists and five steals, while
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) added 14 points, four assists and four steals.
Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) went five-of-six from three-point territory in totaling 17 points.
SCSU, which shot over 50% from the field in the Northeast-10 Conference contest, opened up a double-digit lead midway through the first period and never looked back.
Southern Connecticut, which led 47-28 at the half, did much of its damage from beyond the arc, shooting over 56% from three-point range.
The Owls, 22-2, 16-2 Northeast-10 Conference, travel to Saint Rose on Saturday afternoon.
