NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Three players scored in double figures as the No. 4/6 Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team defeated Southern New Hampshire, 75-63, in the Northeast-10 Conference Quarterfinals. In the process, the Owls extended their program-best winning streak to 14 consecutive games.
Tylon Smith (Manchester, Conn.) led all scorers with 25 points as the Owls earned the first Northeast-10 Conference Tournament victory in program history.  The Owls' point guard also had eight rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Greg Langston (Stratford, Conn.) scored 19 points to move into a tie for fourth place on the career scoring list.  The 2014 Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year, who was a rebound shy of his eighth career double-double, distributed five assists.
Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) rounded out the trio in double digits, totaling 12 points.  The 2014 NE-10 Rookie of the Year scored at least a dozen for the 14th-straight contest.
The Owls experienced their fair share of struggles during the game, with the Penmen holding multiple scorers well below their season averages.
Southern Connecticut remained unbeaten for a school-record 14th straight time in large part due to its defensive prowess.  The Owls held the visitors to only 34% shooting, including 3-of-21 from beyond the arc.
At the half, SCSU led 41-25. Langston had 13 points, while Smith tallied 11.
SCSU, 25-2, 18-2 NE-10, will host Le Moyne in the Northeast-10 Conference Semifinals on Wednesday night.
