Michael Mallory (Waterbury, Conn.) scored a game-high 29 points along with six boards in a 82-70 victory for the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team over Adelphi University this evening.

SCSU trailed by nine points in the opening minutes of the first half, 16-7. Sparked by the rebounding of senior
Austin Carter (Bloomfield, Conn.) who grabbed 10 boards in the first half, Mallory and sophomore
Joey Wallace (Rochester, N.Y.) would wipe away Adelphi's early lead, scoring 24 of the Owls' 41 first half points. SCSU would hold on to win its second game on the season, and its first in the Northeast-10 Conference.
Wallace finished the game scoring a season-high 16 points with five rebounds in 37 minutes of play. Junior
Jerry Luckett, Jr. (Milwaukee, Wisc.) scored 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting in 18 minutes of play.
Austin Carter recorded a game-high 15 rebounds along with five points.
HARD NOSE DEFENSE
The Owls held the Panthers to 38 percent from the field and 23 percent from three-point territory. SCSU forced the Panthers to 12 turnovers.

After tonight's 29-point performance against Adelphi,
Michael Mallory is 62 points away from breaking the all-time scoring record held by Rich Radicioni (1936), who set the record in 1990. Mallory now has 1,874 career points.
