Taylor McLaughlin led three Owls in double figures with 19 points, but the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team dropped a 68-51 decision to St. Anselm on Saturday afternoon at Moore Field House.

Murphy Murad (Storrs, Conn.) scored 14 points for the Owls, while
Maria Weselyj (Marlborough, Conn.) added a dozen.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Aside from the first 80 seconds of the game, the Hawks essentially led from start to finish. The visitors held an 11-point lead after the first quarter and ended the frame on a 7-0 run. Southern got as close as 25-20 with 1:38 to go in the first half before the Hawks scored the final five points of the stanza to take a 10-point lead into the break. Weselyj had eight points in the first half to lead the Owls.
A layup from Weselyj closed the deficit to six points, 33-27, just about four minutes into the second half. However, St. Anselm extended its lead to 12 points after three frames and went on to a 17-point win.
