Taylor McLaughlin (Colchester, Conn.) matched a program single-game record with eight steals and scored a game-high 22 points as the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team claimed its second straight win today, 81-49, over Franklin Pierce.

Chandler Williams (Chepachet, R.I.) had a season-high 12 points off the bench, while
Maria Weselyj (Marlborough, Conn.) also reached double digits with 10 points.
The Owls' defense forced 25 Ravens' turnovers on the day, which turned into 26 SCSU points.
CLOSE FOR A WHILE: SCSU had a 14-11 lead over the Ravens with 4:21 left in the opening quarter, but the hosts went on an 11-0 spurt for a 25-11 cushion. The Owls kept the pressure on in the second frame and outscored the Ravens, 24-10, for a 25-point lead at the break. SCSU led by as many as 41 points in the game.
GETTING SOME BALANCE: Eleven different players scored a point for the Owls in the win.
STEALING IT AWAY: Southern notched 19 steals on the day, its first game with at least 15 steals since Dec. 31, 2014 against St. Thomas Aquinas.
