GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - Trailing by double digits in the second half, the Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team mounted a furious comeback to take a fourth quarter lead. However, its opponent, top-seeded and No. 10 nationally ranked Adelphi rallied to outscore the Owls by a 27-8 margin down the stretch en route to a 69-52 decision in the quarterfinal round of the 2017 NE10 Tournament.

Senior Maria Weselyj (Marlborough, Conn.) registered 18 points to lead the Owls in scoring, while junior Abby Hurlbert (Thomaston, Conn.) recorded 15 points and seven rebounds.
HOW IT HAPPENED: Weselyj opened the scoring in the game, but the Panthers followed with a 17-0 run to take a commanding lead. The Owls had a 6-0 run to end the quarter at a 17-8 deficit. The lead ballooned to as many as 21 points, at 36-15, but the Owls pushed back with a 10-2 run of their own to cut down the lead to 38-25 at the half.
The Owls dominated the third quarter and the start of the fourth, using a 19-4 run to take a 44-42 lead early in the final frame. However, the Panthers took control back from there and never trailed again.
