HOW IT HAPPENED
· Adelphi opened the game on a 9-1 run to take an early lead, but Southern quickly bounced back and scored eight straight to tie the game. The score was back and forth, but both teams were deadlocked at the end of the first quarter.
· The Panthers found their groove in the second frame as they outscored the Owls 24-17 in the second frame and entered halftime with a seven-point lead.
· SCSU opened the third quarter with hot hands as they went on a 10-0 run to capture the lead. The Owls would never trail again in the game and finished the quarter up by five.
· The visitors attempted a comeback, coming within one of the Owls lead in the closing minutes, but a strong run to open the third frame and a sparkling free throw finish from Murad and Decker proved to be the difference maker as the Owls took the victory on senior night, 63-60.
