CONFERENCE PLAY CONTINUES
After winning five straight games, the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team will continues its conference play as it prepares for two conference matchups this week. The Owls start off on the road in Springfield, Mass. to face AIC, with tip off set for 7:30 p.m. Next, the Owls head home to host Le Moyne in conference action on Feb. 10, with tip off set for 3:30 p.m.

MCLEOD RECEIVES WEEKLY HONOR ROLL

Isaiah McLeod of the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team collects NE10 weekly Honor Roll for his performances in the matchups against UNH and Saint Rose.
 McLeod helped the Owls to a 2-0 week averaging 26 points per game, five rebounds per game and three assists per game, while shooting 53.8% from beyond the arc and 48.0% from the field while also shooting 95% (21-of-22) from the free throw line. The junior scored 22 points, hauled in five boards and three assists in a win over crosstown rival, New Haven, on Wednesday. Followed that up with a 30-point performance in the Owls win against Saint Rose. He also collected five rebounds and three assists.
COLEMAN GARNERS NE10 WEEKLY HONORS
FreshmanÂ
Ulyen Coleman of the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team earned NE10 Rookie of the Week for his performances in the matchups against UNH and Saint Rose. Coleman was a key contributor as the Owls went 2-0 in conference play last week. He averaged 23.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 2.0 apg. He shot 66.7% (10-for-15) from beyond the arc and 63.0% (17-for-27) from the field. The freshman started the week with a team high 29 points, five rebounds and three assists in the win over New Haven. Next, he registered 18 points, six rebounds and two steals in the road win against Saint Rose. It's the third time this season he's been recognized as the league's top newcomer.

MCLEOD NAMED CHICK-FIL-A OF NORTH HAVEN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Isaiah McLeod averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals for the Owls on Dec. 18. He scored 21 points and added four rebounds and three steals in a win over Dominican. McLeod then posted 19 points and five assists in the final contest of the week against Caldwell.

Isaiah McLeod has had a marvelous start to the 2017-18 campaign. He has been tabbed for eight weekly honor roll awards from the NE10 for his play this season. McLeod also leads the team in points (19.9 ppg), steals (2.3 spg) and is second on the team in rebounds (5.8 rpg).

Isaiah McLeod averaged 23 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 53.9 percent from beyond the arc to help the Owls record their first conference win of the season against NE10 rival the University of New Haven.

MCLEOD NAMED TO NE10 WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Isaiah McLeod averaged 21.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals for the Owls during the week of Nov. 21. He capped the two-game stretch by scoring a career-high 28 points and adding 10 rebounds in a win over No. 24 nationally ranked Merrimack. The double-double was the third of his collegiate career. McLeod also had 14 points and seven rebounds against Concordia.
WALLACE NAMED CHICK-FIL-A OF NORTH HAVEN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Joey Wallace averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game during the opening week for the Owls. He had 10 points and six rebounds in the season opener against Saint Rose and followed that up with a career-high 21 points and six rebounds against Le Moyne.
SYRACUSE EXHIBITION GAME
The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team led by as many as 15 points in the first half and held a 29-24 lead at the half before host Syracuse came back to secure an 84-59 win over the Owls in exhibition action on Nov. 6, 2017.

RECAPPING LAST YEAR
The Owls are coming off a year in which they finished with 18 wins and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA berth was Southern's fourth in a row. The Owls elevated as high as No. 4 in the national rankings last season.

BURRELL OFF TO A GREAT START
Owls' coachÂ
Scott Burrell enters his third season as head coach in 2017-18. His first two seasons at SCSU have produced back-to-back NCAA Tournament berths, and his 40 wins over that span are the most successful opening two-year stretch for any Owls' coach in program history. He was also named the 2016 ECAC Coach of the Year after leading the Owls to 22 wins and a NCAA berth in his first season.Â
A NEW FACE ON THE SIDELINES
The Owls welcome veteran college coachÂ
Mark Fogel as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season. He joined the Owls after two years as the Director of Basketball Operations at nearby Quinnipiac University. Fogel brings experience as a coach across multiple NCAA divisions and junior college levels to the Owls.

• In total, the Owls have three of their top four scorers back from a year ago. Luckett, Jr. was second on the team with an average of 15.1 points per game and also led the squad with 7.1 rebounds a contest. McLeod averaged 11.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, while Wallace posted averages of 10.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game (team-high). Wallace's 41 steals also led the team in that department.

LOSING SOME PRODUCTION
Two of the most productive players in SCSU history finished up their eligibility at the conclusion of the 2016-17 season.
• Two-time All-America guard Michael Mallory capped his career with 11 school records and departed as the all-time leading scorer in the history of both SCSU and the Northeast-10 Conference with 2,515 points.
• Forward Austin Carter was the 2016 NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and finished eighth in career rebounds with 658.
• In addition, the 2017 senior class, which also included Michael Bozzuto,Â
Kayjuan Bynum, Dominic Migliaro and Jonathan Paul, was the winningest class in school history with 94 victories.
MALLORY OFF TO THE PRO RANKS
Former Owls' All-American guard signed a professional contract with the KK Blokotehna Gevgelija in Macedonia during the off-season. As of Jan 15, he was averaging 11.5Â points, 2.5Â assists and 4.1Â rebounds per game for the club.
ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT RELEASES NEW LOGO
In conjunction with the 2017 Homecoming Weekend festivities, the Southern Connecticut State University athletic department announced a redesign of its Owl logo, effective Oct. 21, 2017. SCSU partnered with Phoenix Design Works of Maplewood, New Jersey for the development of the new athletics logos.
FACING SOME TOUGH COMPETITION
The Owls will face five teams that reached the NCAA Division II Tournament a year ago – LeMoyne, Merrimack, Southern New Hampshire, Saint Rose and Saint Anselm.
THRIVING IN THE CLASSROOM
For the third year in a row, the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as a recipient of the 2016-17 Team Academic Excellence Award for its success in the classroom. In addition, six members of the team were selected as honorees for the 2017 NABC Honors Court - Michael Bozzuto,Â
