CONFERENCE PLAY CONTINUES
After winning five straight games, the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team will continues its conference play as it prepares for two conference matchups this week. The Owls start off on the road in Springfield, Mass. to face AIC, with tip off set for 7:30 p.m. Next, the Owls head home to host Le Moyne in conference action on Feb. 10, with tip off set for 3:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
- Isaiah McLeod led the Owls with a 30 points performance, this is the second time this season he has reached 30 points or more.
- Ulyen Coleman registered 18 points in the win over Saint Rose.
- Five Owls reached double-digit points in the win over Saint Rose to extend their win streak to five.

The Owls are on a five game win streak, all of which have come against conference opponents, to put Southern in a good position for post season action.

MCLEOD RECEIVES WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Junior Isaiah McLeod of the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team collects NE10 weekly Honor Roll for his performances in the matchups against UNH and Saint Rose. McLeod helped the Owls to a 2-0 week averaging 26 points per game, five rebounds per game and three assists per game, while shooting 53.8% from beyond the arc and 48.0% from the field while also shooting 95% (21-of-22) from the free throw line. The junior scored 22 points, hauled in five boards and three assists in a win over crosstown rival, New Haven, on Wednesday. Followed that up with a 30-point performance in the Owls win against Saint Rose. He also collected five rebounds and three assists.

COLEMAN GARNERS NE10 WEEKLY HONORS
Freshman Ulyen Coleman of the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team earned NE10 Rookie of the Week for his performances in the matchups against UNH and Saint Rose. Coleman was a key contributor as the Owls went 2-0 in conference play last week. He averaged 23.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg and 2.0 apg. He shot 66.7% (10-for-15) from beyond the arc and 63.0% (17-for-27) from the field. The freshman started the week with a team high 29 points, five rebounds and three assists in the win over New Haven. Next, he registered 18 points, six rebounds and two steals in the road win against Saint Rose. It's the third time this season he's been recognized as the league's top newcomer.

OWLS BIG THREE
The Owls big three of junior Isaiah McLeod, senior Jerry Luckett, Jr. and freshman Ulyen Coleman are the only Owls that average double-digit points.

A WINNING RECIPE
During the Owls five game win streak, four of the five wins have come when four or more players have registered double-digit points.

TWO OWLS RECEIVE CONFERENCE HONORS
Senior Jerry Luckett, Jr. and junior Isaiah McLeod of the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team earned spots on the NE10 weekly honor roll for their performances in the matchups against NE10 opponents Assumption and Saint Michael's.

OWLS' DEFENSE KEY
The Owls are 10-3 when the defense holds their opponents to less than 80 points.

MCLEOD RECORDS CAREER-HIGH
Junior guard Isaiah McLeod recorded a career-high 32 points in the win against Bentley.

GETTING BUCKETS
Coming into the week, Isaiah McLeod ranks fifth in the NE10 in scoring. He also ranks second in the NE10 with 47 steals. 
 
LUCKETT POSTS CAREER-HIGH
Senior forward Jerry Luckett, Jr. posted a career-high 31 points in the game against Stonehill. His previous career-high was 30 points, which was accomplished twice last year.

OWLS DOMINANT AT HOME
The Owls have been playing lights out at home, as they hold a 8-2 record this season. At Moore Field House, they average 78.6 ppg compared to 74.6 ppg on the road.

CAREER-NIGHT FOR MIREE 
Noah Miree registered a career-high 10 points in the win over SNHU.

MCLEOD NAMED TO NE10 WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Isaiah McLeod was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll on Jan. 2 for his play in the Owls' win over USciences.
 
MCLEOD NAMED CHICK-FIL-A OF NORTH HAVEN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Isaiah McLeod averaged 20.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.5 steals for the Owls on Dec. 18. He scored 21 points and added four rebounds and three steals in a win over Dominican. McLeod then posted 19 points and five assists in the final contest of the week against Caldwell.
 
MCLEOD'S MARVELOUS START
Junior captain Isaiah McLeod has had a marvelous start to the 2017-18 campaign. He has been tabbed for eight weekly honor roll awards from the NE10 for his play this season. McLeod also leads the team in points (19.9 ppg), steals (2.3 spg) and is second on the team in rebounds (5.8 rpg).
 
CAREER-NIGHT FOR BRANTLEY
Bernard Brantley posted a career-high 16 points in the Owls win over Dominican on Dec. 14. 
 
TWO OWLS EARN CONFERENCE HONORS
Freshman Ulyen Coleman and junior Isaiah McLeod of the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team earned NE10 Conference honors for their performances in the matchups against AIC and Pace. Coleman was tabbed as the NE10 Rookie of the Week while McLeod was named to the NE10 weekly honor roll. 

MAKING AN IMPACT
Freshman Tyler Douglas has started at point guard for the last 13 games and leads the Owls in assists this season (74).

MORE CONTRIBUTIONS FROM NEW FACES
Freshman Ulyen Coleman currently ranks third on the club with 13.7 points per game and is also averaging 5.5 rebounds a game. He was named NE10 Rookie of the Week on Dec. 11 for his play against AIC and Pace. Junior Luke Beesley notched his first double-double as an Owl (14 points, 13 rebounds) against Adelphi and had a career-high 16 points against AIC.

FIRST CONFERENCE WIN OF THE YEAR
A 25-point performance from Isaiah McLeod and 21 points from Jerry Luckett, Jr. led the Owls past cross-town rival New Haven, 75-67, for their first NE10 conference win of the season.

MCLEOD EARNS WEEKLY HONOR ROLL SPOT
Isaiah McLeod averaged 23 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting 53.9 percent from beyond the arc to help the Owls record their first conference win of the season against NE10 rival the University of New Haven.

CAPTAINS LEAD THE WAY FOR THE OWLS
Captains Jerry Luckett, Jr. and Isaiah McLeod led the Owls to their first win of the season. These two combined for 47 of the Owls 82 points in the victory over No. 24 Merrimack.

MCLEOD NAMED TO NE10 WEEKLY HONOR ROLL
Isaiah McLeod averaged 21.0 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals for the Owls during the week of Nov. 21. He capped the two-game stretch by scoring a career-high 28 points and adding 10 rebounds in a win over No. 24 nationally ranked Merrimack. The double-double was the third of his collegiate career. McLeod also had 14 points and seven rebounds against Concordia.

WALLACE NAMED CHICK-FIL-A OF NORTH HAVEN ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Joey Wallace averaged 15.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game during the opening week for the Owls. He had 10 points and six rebounds in the season opener against Saint Rose and followed that up with a career-high 21 points and six rebounds against Le Moyne.

SYRACUSE EXHIBITION GAME
The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team led by as many as 15 points in the first half and held a 29-24 lead at the half before host Syracuse came back to secure an 84-59 win over the Owls in exhibition action on Nov. 6, 2017.
- Junior Isaiah McLeod led the Owls with 18 points, three rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes.
- Senior Jerry Luckett, Jr. recorded 14 points, six rebounds and two assists in 29 minutes.
- Junior Joey Wallace scored eight points along with six rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes.

RECAPPING LAST YEAR
The Owls are coming off a year in which they finished with 18 wins and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA berth was Southern's fourth in a row. The Owls elevated as high as No. 4 in the national rankings last season.

THE CAPTAINS
Southern Connecticut coach Scott Burrell has announced that senior Jerry Luckett, Jr. and juniors Isaiah McLeod and Joey Wallace will serve as team captains for the 2017-18 season.

BURRELL OFF TO A GREAT START
Owls' coach Scott Burrell enters his third season as head coach in 2017-18. His first two seasons at SCSU have produced back-to-back NCAA Tournament berths, and his 40 wins over that span are the most successful opening two-year stretch for any Owls' coach in program history. He was also named the 2016 ECAC Coach of the Year after leading the Owls to 22 wins and a NCAA berth in his first season. 

A NEW FACE ON THE SIDELINES
The Owls welcome veteran college coach Mark Fogel as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season. He joined the Owls after two years as the Director of Basketball Operations at nearby Quinnipiac University. Fogel brings experience as a coach across multiple NCAA divisions and junior college levels to the Owls.

WELCOME BACK
Southern Connecticut returns six players from last year's squad - seniors  Jerry Luckett, Jr.and Bernard Brantley, juniors Isaiah McLeod and Joey Wallace and sophomores Taurus Adams II and Noah Miree.
• In total, the Owls have three of their top four scorers back from a year ago. Luckett, Jr. was second on the team with an average of 15.1 points per game and also led the squad with 7.1 rebounds a contest. McLeod averaged 11.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, while Wallace posted averages of 10.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game (team-high). Wallace's 41 steals also led the team in that department.

WELCOME TO THE CLUB
Four newcomers have joined the Owls' squad for the 2017-18 season - Luke Beesley (transfer from Parkland College) and freshmen Ulyen Coleman, Tyler Douglas and Jesper Sandager.

LOSING SOME PRODUCTION
Two of the most productive players in SCSU history finished up their eligibility at the conclusion of the 2016-17 season.
• Two-time All-America guard Michael Mallory capped his career with 11 school records and departed as the all-time leading scorer in the history of both SCSU and the Northeast-10 Conference with 2,515 points.
• Forward Austin Carter was the 2016 NE10 Defensive Player of the Year and finished eighth in career rebounds with 658.
• In addition, the 2017 senior class, which also included Michael Bozzuto, Kayjuan Bynum, Dominic Migliaro and Jonathan Paul, was the winningest class in school history with 94 victories.

MALLORY OFF TO THE PRO RANKS
Former Owls' All-American guard signed a professional contract with the KK Blokotehna Gevgelija in Macedonia during the off-season. As of Jan 15, he was averaging 11.5 points, 2.5 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game for the club.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT RELEASES NEW LOGO
In conjunction with the 2017 Homecoming Weekend festivities, the Southern Connecticut State University athletic department announced a redesign of its Owl logo, effective Oct. 21, 2017. SCSU partnered with Phoenix Design Works of Maplewood, New Jersey for the development of the new athletics logos.

FACING SOME TOUGH COMPETITION
The Owls will face five teams that reached the NCAA Division II Tournament a year ago – LeMoyne, Merrimack, Southern New Hampshire, Saint Rose and Saint Anselm.

THRIVING IN THE CLASSROOM
For the third year in a row, the Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team was recognized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches as a recipient of the 2016-17 Team Academic Excellence Award for its success in the classroom. In addition, six members of the team were selected as honorees for the 2017 NABC Honors Court - Michael Bozzuto, Bernard Brantley, Kayjuan Bynum, Jerry Luckett, Jr., Michael Mallory and Jonathan Paul.

TOUGH PLACE TO PLAY
The Owls are 49-13 (.786) at home since the start of the 2013-14 season and 44-6 in NE10 play (.877) in league games.
