Volleyball Falls To Daemen, 3-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. –The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team fell to Daemen College, 3-1 in non-conference play at Pelz Gymnasium. The Owls fall to 9-10 on the season, while the Wildcats improve to 12-6.
 
Freshman Ella White (Gurnee, Ill.) led the team in kills with 14 on the day, while also tallying six digs, two service aces and a career-high four blocks. Junior Abigail Epstein (Crystal River, Fla.) registered 10 kills with a team-high .267 hitting percentage, adding a pair of assists and digs. Senior Tea Carter (Modesto, Calif.) collected her fourth double-double of the season with 34 assists and 15 digs. Junior Erika Benson (Kings Park, N.Y.) contributed nine kills and a career-high five blocks for the Owls in the loss. Senior Anna Venard (Thornton, Colo.) and graduate student Jennifer Dawson (Clinton, Conn.) collected 21 digs and 17 digs, respectively.

Notes
  • Jen Dawson, who nabbed 17 digs during the match, has tallied double-digit digs in four of her last five games. 
  • Dawson has tallied at least one service ace in each of her last five games and currently leads the conference in total aces with 30. 
  • With 14 kills, Ella White collected her second-straight double-digit kill game, tying her single-game career-high set on Sept. 14 against Bloomsburg.
  • Erika Benson's five blocks top a career-high, previously set on Oct. 1 in the Owls game against American International. This was her fifth-straight game with three-or-more blocks in a match.
  • Tea Carter has collected 30-or-more assists in 11 games this season and in six of her last seven matches.
  • This was the second time this season Anna Venard has tallied more than 20 digs in a game. Her last 20-dig game was on Sept. 15 at Post when she had 22.
