Volleyball Falls To Franklin Pierce

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team fell to Franklin Pierce University, 3-1 at Pelz Gymnasium. The Owls fall to 9-13 overall and 2-4 in the Northeast 10, while the Ravens improve to 8-10 overall and 2-5 in the NE10.

Prior to the start of today's game, the SCSU volleyball team honored its three-member senior class: Anna Venard (Thornton, Colo.) Jillian Chambers (Shelby Township, Mich.) and Tea Carter (Modesto, Calif.). Freshman Ella White (Gurnee, Ill.) led the offense for the Owls with 14 kills. Tea Carter had a team-high 40 assists while Jillian Chambers had a team-high 29 kills. Anna Venard contributed 24 digs in the loss.

Notes
  • Jillian Chambers' 29 digs against Franklin Pierce were high a career-high. Her previous career-high was 20 against Bentley on Sept. 29, 2018.
  • Abby Epstein has tallied double-digit kills in four-straight games, collecting 12 against Franklin Pierce. She has also collected a block in each of her last five games.
  • Jennifer Dawson, who nabbed 10 digs during the match, has tallied double-digit digs in seven of her last eight games.
  • This was the fourth time this season Anna Venard has tallied more than 20 digs in a game. Her last 20-dig game was on Oct. 18 against Bentley when she had 27.
  • Tea Carter has collected 30 or more assists in 14 games this season and in eight of her last nine matches.
