Women's Soccer Plays To 1-1 Tie At Saint Anselm

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's soccer team played a 1-1 draw at Saint Anselm, in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup in Manchester, N.H. With the tie, Southern moves to 8-5-2 overall and 5-3-2 in the NE10 while the Hawks go to 7-2-5 overall and 4-2-4 in conference play.

Nadine Hilkert (Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany) scored the Owls' only goal with an assist on the play by Marisa Grisell (Brookfield, Conn.), who picked up her first point of the season. In goal, Allie Smith (Danbury, Conn.) stopped four of Saint Anselm's five shots-on-goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nadine Hilkert put the Owls on the board with her second goal of the season in the 16th minute of play on a pass from Marisa Grisell.
  • In the 33rd minute, Saint Anselm benefited from an "Own Goal" scored by the Owls.

NOTES
  • Hilkert has now scored in back-to-back games, and also has a point in three-straight games which is the longest scoring streak of the season for Southern Connecticut.
  • Hilkert contributed assists in the Owls' last two games against Saint Anselm and New Haven.
  • Grisell assist is her first point since her freshman year, which also came against Saint Anselm in a 3-0 win on Sept. 14, 2016.
  • Grisell also becomes the 12th player to tally a point for the Owls this season.

UP NEXT
Southern will return home to Jess Dow Field for a pair of NE10 matchups against American International on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. and against Saint Rose on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 2 p.m.
