DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team fell to Mercy College in overtime, 2-1 in Northeast 10 conference play. The Owls fall to 0-10 on the season and 0-7 in the NE10, while Mercy improves to 3-5 overall and 3-4 in the NE10.

Brianna Craft (Hamden, Conn.) stopped three shots between the pipes for the Owls. Junior
Karley Welles (Newington, Conn.) notched her second goal of the season and topped a season-high in shots with seven, while junior
Jessica Maier (Enfield, Conn.) had a season-high five shots.

How it Happened
- A matchup featuring the top two goalkeepers in the conference, both went untested in the first quarter as both Craft and Viscione stopped one apiece.
- After a scoreless second quarter, the action picked up in the third as two penalty strokes were awarded, one for each team. The Mavericks capitalized as Rebecca Podsckoch gave Mercy a 1-0 lead.
- Welles tied the game in the 54th minute off a feed from Abigail Kellerman (Fairfield, Conn.).
- Mercy collected their game-winner a minute and a half into the overtime to seal their victory.

- SCSU had a season-high 17 penalty corners. The previous season-high was 10 against Bentley on Sept. 21.
