Volleyball Sweeps Saint Michael's In NE10 Play

COLCHESTER, Vt. – The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team defeated Saint Michael's College, 3-0 at the Ross Sports Center. The Owls improve to 11-13 overall and 4-4 in the Northeast 10, while the Purple Knights fall to 1-15 overall and 0-7 in the NE10.
 
Abigail Epstein (Crystal River, Fla.) contributed to the Owls overall dominance as the junior strung together a complete performance notching seven kills, seven blocks, three services aces and three digs. Freshman Gabriela Gaibur (Monroe, N.Y.) was the heavy hitter for the Owls against Saint Michael's as she tallied a game-high 11 kills and seven digs. Senior Anna Venard (Thornton, Colo.) had 10 digs and a season-high four service aces, while fellow senior Tea Carter (Modesto, Calif.) notched 34 assists, three digs and two block assists.

Notes
  • Gabriela Gaibur had team-highs 11 kills making it a third-straight game that she has been in double-digit kills.
  • Abigail Epstein tallied a career-high seven blocks during the match collecting three solo blocks and two block assists. She has tallied three-or-more blocks in nine games this season.
  • Tea Carter's 34 assists against Saint Michael's makes it the 16th game this season with 30-or-more assists and in 10 of her last 11 games.
  • Ella White's .800 hitting percentage was a season-high and single-game career-high for the freshman who went 8-for-10 with no errors.
  • Anna Venard collected 10 digs during the match making it the seventh-straight match with double-digit digs and the 20th match this season.
