HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Darius Jones scored on a 43-yard pass from Carlton Aiken with four minutes to play in the first quarter to give the Setters a 7-0 lead.
  • The Setters scored twice in the second quarter on a pair of rushing touchdowns from Jhalel Bien-Aime and Carlton Aiken as they headed to halftime with a 20-0 lead.
  • Aiken's second rushing touchdown of the day pushed Pace's lead to 27-0 before Southern got on the board late in the third quarter.
  • Following a 30-yard reception by Mike Howell that set the Owls up in the Setters' red zone, Ostrowsky threw a strike to Swain-Price in which the latter made a diving stab before two defenders. The ball appeared to pop loose, but officials determined the Owls' receiver had gained possession while breaking the plane of the end zone and awarded the touchdown.
  • Early in the fourth quarter, Jones scored again for Pace with Aiken hitting him for a 55-yard score to give the Setters a 34-7 lead early in the final period.
  • With nine minutes to play, the Owls capped off an 11-play, 77-yard drive that saw Swain-Price made an incredible one-handed catch in the back corner of the Setters' end zone to cut Pace's lead to 34-14.
  • With time remaining, head coach Tom Godek called a timeout with one second on the clock, setting up Wells for an eight-yard touchdown on his final collegiate play on Senior Day.
