Field Hockey Falls To No. 6 Adelphi In Season Finale

GARDEN CITY, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team fell to No. 6 nationally-ranked Adelphi at Motamed Field. The Owls fall to 1-16 overall and 1-13 in the Northeast 10, while the Panthers improve to 14-4 overall and 12-2 in the NE10.
 
Senior Brianna Craft (Hamden, Conn.) made 21 saves in goal for the Owls. Juniors Jessica Maier (Enfield, Conn.) and Karley Welles (Newington, Conn.) each had two shots on goal.

  • Brianna Craft's 21 saves against Adelphi put her at 200 for the year and caps her collegiate career with 926 career saves.
  • Craft's 200 saves this season puts her at 200+ saves in each of her four seasons as an Owl and makes her the first goalkeeper in SCSU history to register 200 or more saves in each of their four seasons.
  •  Karley Welles caps the 2019 season leading the Owls with a career-high five goals and 28 shots.
  • Jessica Maier finishes the season with a team-leading three assists.
  • In Janelle Ward's first season, she recorded two goals, two assists, seven shots in the field and 26 saves in goal.
