The Southern Connecticut women's basketball team will head north to Colchester, Vt.to face Northeast Division opponent, Saint Michael's at the Ross Sports Center at 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 2. The Owls currently sit No. 3 in the Southwest Division, while the Purple Knights sit at No. 7 in the Northeast. 

ALL-TIME WITH SAINT MICHAEL'S
• Southern holds the all-time series with Saint Michael's, 18-9.
 
THE LAST MEETING WITH SAINT MICHAEL'S
• 
Abby Hurlbert '18 hit the game-winning shot as time expired in overtime to lift the Owls past the Purple Knights, 64-63.
 
THE OWLS' LAST TIME OUT
• Southern dropped a 76-71 to Assumption College in Worcester, Mass.
• 
Kiana Steinauer collected her conference and NCAA DII-leading 16th double-double of the year with 30 points and 11 rebounds.
• This was Steinauer's second 30-point game this season.
• 
Amanda Pfohl notched 20 points on 6-of-15 shooting from beyond the arc, which has her collecting double-digit points in 19 of the Owls 21 games this season.
• For the 12th-straight game, the Owls had three-or-more players score in double-digit figures: Steinauer (30), Pfohl (20) and Wheeler (15).
 
THE OWLS IN THE NE10
• The Owls currently have two players in the conference in the top 20 in scoring, highlighted by 
Kiana Steinauer (18.0, 4th) and Amanda Pfohl (14.5, 13th).
• Pfohl's 73 three-pointers lead the conference.
• Steinauer's 15.3 rebounds per game puts her first in the NE10, while her 2.7 steals rank third.
• 
Imani Wheeler ranks fourth in the NE10 with 4.7 assists per game and seventh with 2.0 steals per game.

THE OWLS IN THE NCAA
 • As of Feb. 1, 
Kiana Steinauer leads NCAA DII in four categories. She ranks first in rebounds per game with 15.3; total rebounds with 321; total defensive rebounds with 234 and double-doubles with 16.

Amanda Pfohl ranks first in NCAA DII in three-point field goal attempts with 200 and first in 3-pointers made with 73.
 
WELCOME TO THE 800 CLUB
• With 10 boards against Bentley, 
Kiana Steinauer surpassed 800 career rebounds. Only Jackie Beathea '16 (1,216) and Tammy Kiernan '96 (816) have reached 800 career rebounds for SCSU. Her 800 rebounds make her the 13th NCAA Division II player with 800 career rebounds. Steinauer, a junior, is one of four active players in the NE10 to hit 800 career boards, all of whom are seniors.
• Steinauer is the only player in SCSU history to collect 800 rebounds, 800 points and 125 steals in an Owl uniform.
 
PFOHL AMONG SCSU LEADERS
• With 73 three-pointers this season, senior 
Amanda Pfohl sits fifth all-time in SCSU women's basketball history in single-season three-pointers. She entered the week in a four-way tie for seventh with Kristen Breen, '96-'97, Julie Dale, '89-'90 and Camille Fantini, '11-'12, but sunk six from beyond the arc in the Owls game against Assumption on Jan. 29 to climb the all-time rankings to No. 5.

OWLS JUMP A SPOT IN THIS WEEK'S D2SIDA REGIONAL POLL
After re-entering the poll last week for the first time in five weeks at No. 10, the Owls jumped a spot in the rankings to No. 9 after defeated Franklin Pierce, 72-62 at Moore Field House on Jan. 23.

KEEP'EM COMIN' STEINAUER
• 
Kiana Steinauer's jaw-dropping performance of 33 points and 31 rebounds against Concordia resulted in the first 30-point, 30-rebound performance in Northeast 10 and SCSU women's basketball history. She also broke her own SCSU single-game record, a 23-rebound performance against Adelphi on Dec. 2, 2017.
• In addition to breaking a school and conference record, it is the second 30-30 game in NCAA Division II women's basketball history, and the first since Benedict College's Destiny Betts did it in 2016, second 30-rebound game in NE10 history, joining Assumption's Lisa McCarthy who had a 31-rebound performance against Saint Michaels on Feb. 12, 1983 and second 30-rebound game in NCAA Division II women's basketball since 1996 and the 13th all-time in NCAA Division II history.
 
STEINAUER TABBED USBWA DII NATIONAL AND NORTHEAST 10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
• A stellar 33-point, 31-rebound performance against Concordia, 
Kiana Steinauer was tabbed as the Northeast 10 conference and the U.S Basketball Writers Association National DII Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 17.
 
KI TO SUCCESS
• With 14 boards in the Owls win over Post on Nov. 10, 
Kiana Steinauer has successfully surpassed 500 career-rebounds. With her 25-point performance on Nov. 11 in the Owls win at Bridgeport, she also topped her career best in points (previously 23 points).

TRIO TABBED AS 2018-19 CAPTAINS
• Senior trio 
Amanda PfohlErin Ryder and Allie Smith will serve as the captains for the women's basketball squad during the 2018-19 season, as announced by head coach Kate Lynch.

OWLS TABBED TO FINISH THIRD IN THE SOUTHWEST
•  The Owls were picked to finish third in the Southwest Division in the 2018-19 Northeast 10 Conference Women's Basketball Preseason Coaches' Poll. SCSU had an impressive 2017-2018 season as they went 21-10 overall and 14-6 in the conference leading them to capture the Southwest Division title and to clinch a berth in the NCAA tournament for the seventh time in program history.

• The Owls are welcoming three newcomers to the 2018-19 squad - senior 
DeAnna McCarvell (Transfer from Salve Regina), junior Aaliyah Walker (Transfer from Odessa College) and freshman Najae White.

• Southern is returning six players from the 2017-18 squad - seniors 
Amanda PfohlAllie SmithErin Ryder, juniors Bridget SharnickKiana SteinauerJessica Fressle and Imani Wheeler.
• Of those seven, two were the Owls top five scorers last year:
• Steinauer leads the group as she averaged 10.6 rebounds per game (led the team) and 10.1 points per game (second on the team) and 1.5 steals per game.
• Wheeler was fifth on the team in scoring averaging 5.5 points per game, 1.6 steals per game (led the team) and 1.8 assists per game (third on the team).
