Volleyball Captures Victories Over Felician, Bloomsburg

WATERBURY, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team swept Felician and defeated Bloomsburg 3-1 to open the Post Eagles Invitational. The Owls improve to 6-0 on the season, while Felican drops to 1-4 and Bloomsburg drops to 1-4.
 
Tea Carter (Modesto, Calif.) was a major player for the Owls in their two wins against Felician and Bloomsburg. She collected a total of 76 assists, while Ella White (Gurnee, Ill.) was the offense generator as she led the team in both games with 12 kills against Felician and 14 kills against Bloomsburg.

Notes
  • White led the charge for the Owls in the first match crushing a team-leading 12 kills, while Jennifer Dawson (Clinton, Conn.) notched 10 kills on the floor and Ariel Letcher (Sebastian, Fla.) had 8. Letcher also notched 10 digs through three sets.
  • Dawson sported a .533 hitting percentage going a spectacular 10-for-15, a team-best. Abigail Epstein (Crystal River, Fla.) also had a solid hitting percentage (.412) going 7-for-17.
  • Carter collected 30 assists and Anna Venard (Thornton, Colo.) tallied a team-high 11 digs.
  • Southern Connecticut led in four major categories: points (52-39), kills (45-28), assists (43-26) and digs (43-35).

  • Carter notched a career-high 46 assists.

  • The last time the Owls started the season on six-game winning streak was in 2009 when they started the season 13-0.
  • Tea Carter notched a career-high 46 assists and 76 on the day. She previously topped her career best in the Owls 3-1 win over Dominican where she had 39.
