SCSU Athletics Places 226 Student-Athletes On NE10 Academic Honor Roll

MARSHFIELD, MASS. – Southern Connecticut State University Athletics placed 226 student-athletes on the Fall 2019 Northeast 10 Conference Academic Honor Roll, as announced by the NE10 on Friday, Jan. 31, 2020. Of the 226 student-athletes the earn a grade-point-average of 3.00-or-higher, 23 earned Academic Excellence for compiling a perfect 4.00 GPA for the Fall semester.

The Academic Honor Roll acknowledges the commitment of NE10 student-athletes to excel in the classroom with three designations – Academic Excellence (4.0 GPA), Academic Distinction (3.50-3.99 GPA) and Academic Honors (3.00-3.49 GPA).

Southern was one of 12 NE10 school's to place 50% of its student-athletes on the academic honor for the Fall semester. Of the 226 Owls to earn recognition, 101 had GPA's of 3.50 to 3.99 while 102 had GPA's ranging from 3.00 to 3.49, with the final 23 posted perfect 4.0 GPA's.

Men's track & field featured a department-best 37 student-athletes on the list, followed by football (26), baseball (24) and then women's soccer and women's track & field with 22 each.

Of the 23 student-athletes with perfect 4.00 GPA's, women's soccer placed seven on the list including Elite 24 recipient Greta Brunello, CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees Paula Nunez and Nadine Hilkert, as well as Abigail Allen, Kourtney Costello, Rossella Graniero, Gillian Hotchkiss and Johanna Wahlen. Volleyball, men's cross country/track & field and women's swimming & diving all placed three on the list including volleyball's Tea Carter, Jillian Chambers and Megan Dombrowski, as well as men's cross country/track & field's Stephen Fengler, Christopher Lebeau and Carlos Torres while women's swimming & diving's recipients include Megan Garner, Hannah Morse and Ashley Sloan. Baseball's Nolan Cloutier and Trevor, women's track & field's Elaina DiSalvo, field hockey's Jessica Maier, football's Sidney Jones, men's basketball's Zach Penn and men's soccer's Tomas Terrugi also earned 4.0 GPA's for the semester.
