Men's Basketball Falls To Le Moyne

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball was defeated by Le Moyne, 73-60, at James Moore Field House. The Owls fall to 13-10 overall and 8-8 in the NE10, while the Dolphins improve to 18-7 overall and 14-3 in the NE10. 
 
Greg Jones (Bronx, N.Y.) recorded his fourth double-double of the season as he scored a team-high 15 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds. Isaiah Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) scored 11 points and Levar Allen (Richmond, Va.) chipped in with 10 points on 4-6 shooting. Taurus Adams II (Milwaukee, Wisc.) scored eight points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass.) recorded 10 rebounds.
 
How It Happened
  • Both offenses got off to a slow start, but Le Moyne led 10-9 with 13:03 remaining. Le Moyne then went on a 21-4 run to take a 31-13 lead with 7:15 remaining, their largest of the first half. 
  • Le Moyne held a 37-20 lead with 3:34 remaining, but Southern outscored the Dolphins 9-3 to end the half to trim the deficit to 40-29. 
  • The Owls scored the first points of the second half to cut the deficit to nine, but Le Moyne immediately went on a 16-2 run to take a 56-33 lead with 12:43 remaining. 
  • Southern was able to cut into Le Moyne's lead again, going on an 11-2 run to make the score 58-44 with 9:11 left. 
  • Le Moyne extended their lead back up to 69-49 with 3:13 remaining to seal the win. 
 


Notes 
  • Jones has recorded four double-doubles in his last eight games.
  • Jones tied a career-high with three blocks, while Boissard tied a career-high with two blocks. 
  • Allen has recorded double-digit points in back-to-back games for the first time in his career. 
  • Bennett grabbed at least 10 rebounds in a game for the third time in his career. 
  • Southern pulled down 49 rebounds, their second most in a game this season. They recorded 53 rebounds against Franklin Pierce on Jan. 22, 2020. 
  • Southern also recorded their second most blocks in a game with five. They recorded six blocks on Nov. 13, 2019 against Caldwell.
