Hannah Stahlbrodt Breaks Two Program Records In Owls' Home Meet

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University gymnastics team tied for third place out of five teams at their final home meet of the season.

Bridgeport won the five-team meet with a score of 194.800, followed by West Chester in second at 193.125. The Owls and Brown tied at 192.400 followed by Rhode Island College at 181.525.

Hannah Stahlbrodt (Cicero, N.Y.) broke two program records in the Owls' home meet with a 39.075 in the all-around competition and a 9.875 on the uneven parallel bars. Stahlbrodt won both events while leading Southern in three of the four events in the meet. Freshman Bianca Leon (Miami, Fla.) won the balance beam event with a 9.825. In addition, Southern had its highest team score of the season on the floor, and its second-best score on the beam of the year.

VAULT
  • Stahlbrodt's 9.650 led the Owls on the vault and was good for seventh out of 30 student-athletes. Cassidy Girolamo placed 10th in the event at 9.600 while Alexandra Lesperance was 15th with a 9.550.
UNEVEN PARALLEL BARS
  • Stahlbrodt's 9.875 on the bars is the highest score in program history, edging the previous mark of 9.85, which Stahlbrodt also matched last season, set by Kirby Pallis on Jan. 22, 2012.
  • Leon scored a 9.750 for a tie of sixth place which is the second-best score of the event for the season and the fourth-best of the year for Southern Connecticut.
  • Jackie Kutcher also posted a 9.650 for 13th place for her second-best score of the season.
BALANCE BEAM
  • Leon won the balance beam event with a score of 9.825. Leon is also the owner of the Owls' record in the event after posting a 9.900 on Feb. 2 against Brown and Bridgeport.
  • Jordan Peloquin tied for fourth with a 9.750, followed by Morgan Gatewood in a tie for sixth with Stahlbrodt with a 9.725.
  • Keara Loughlin (Lowell, Mass.) finished with a 9.700 as Southern held five of the top eight spots in the event.
FLOOR
  • Stahlbrodt led the Owls on the floor with a 9.825 for third place while Peloquin was close behind in sixth place at 9.775.
  • Lesperance also scored a 9.725 for a tie of 11th place while Girolamo posted a 9.675. Noely Macias also scored a 9.650 followed by Keylea Brothers at 9.625.
ALL-AROUND
  • Stahlbrodt's all-around score of 39.075 bested her previous program record of 39.050 that she set on Feb. 17, 2019 against Springfield and Ithaca.
