Meet The Owls: SCSU Swimming and Diving's Morgan Fernald

Southern Connecticut Athletic Communications will be featuring student-athletes from various teams throughout the remainder of the spring semester and into the summer months. Next up is SCSU Swimming and Diving junior Morgan Fernald (Belfast, Maine). Fernald helped the Owls win the 2020 Northeast 10 Conference Championship by capturing first place in the 100-yard backstroke and 200 and 400-yard medley relay.

If someone made a movie about you, who would play your character? Why? Drew Barrymore, we have the same quirky personality.
What professional athlete inspires you? Why? Kathleen Baker. She sufferers from a chronic condition like myself and she doesn't let it hold her back.
Why did you choose Southern Connecticut? What set
it apart from the other schools you visited?
Because it felt like home. As soon as I walked onto campus it just automatically gave me the feeling of home.
What's your favorite course that you've taken at Southern Connecticut and why? PSY 220- Intro to the Mental Health Field
What does wearing the SCSU logo mean to you? Pride
Who is your funniest teammate and why? Erin Leireyshe is always making jokes that everyone can laugh at.
What's your favorite inspirational quote? Do your job- Bill Belichick
Can you play any instruments? Recorder
What is your favorite cereal? Special K Strawberry
What's the strangest talent you have? I can burp the ABCs.
What are three things on your bucket list? Scuba diving at the Great Barrier Reef, swim with sea otters, cook with Gordon Ramsay.
If you could have any one superpower, which would you choose? Mind reading, specifically with my puppies.
If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why? A sea otter, they're cute and cuddly and loved by everyone, and they fall asleep holding hands.
