Meet The Owls: SCSU Women's Soccer's Juliana Santos

Southern Connecticut Athletic Communications will be featuring student-athletes from various teams throughout the remainder of the spring semester and into the summer months. Next up is SCSU Women's Soccer graduate student Juliana Santos (Newington, Conn.). The midfielder started all 21 games for the Owls as they made a postseason run to the NE10 Conference Tournament Championship Game against The College of Saint Rose. Santos two goals scored this season, including the game-winning goal against Le Moyne in the 87th minute on Oct. 5, 2019. She started 56 of the 57 games she played in her collegiate career.

If someone made a movie about you, who would play your character? Jennifer Lawrence, because of her sense of humor.
What professional athlete inspires you? Why? Carli Lloyd - she is the epitome of hard work, especially at 36 years old.
Why did you choose Southern Connecticut? What set it apart from the other schools you visited? When I came to the school for the first time I had a really great feeling. The size of the campus was perfect, they have an amazing exercise science department for my major and the soccer program was what convinced me as well.
What's your favorite course that you've taken at Southern Connecticut and why? Fitness Management - it was a challenging course that taught me how to perform exercise testing. I like how this class gave me hands on experience and taught me skills for life after college.
What does wearing the SCSU logo mean to you? It makes me proud. The logo I wear represents a great athletic program that has impacted my life in a positive way. I will always proudly wear the southern logo.
Who is your funniest teammate and why? Rossella Graniero - she doesn't know she's being funny sometimes so that makes it even funnier. We have inside jokes as well so we're always laughing.
What's your favorite inspirational quote?
Can you play any instruments?
Whatever makes you feel the sun from the inside out, chase that.
I used to play the flute - I think i can still play a few notes.

What are three things on your bucket list? 1. Go parasailing over the Mediterranean 2. Go to all 50 states in my lifetime 3. Repay my parents for all they have done for me

If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why? An elephant - they are beautiful, strong and group oriented.
