The Southern Connecticut State University football team returns home on Saturday, Oct. 16 to host Bentley for a Northeast 10 Conference matchup as part of SCSU's 2021 Homecoming festivities. The Owls enter the weekend with a record of 3-3 overall and 2-2 in NE10 play while Bentley is currently undefeated at 6-0 overall and 4-0 in conference action.

SCSU 2021 HOMECOMING INFORMATION
Due to health and safety concerns as a result of Coronavirus, tailgating will not be permitted during homecoming this year.
Additionally, visitors to campus must wear masks at all times and abide by any other COVID mitigation policies.

SCSU ATHLETICS SPECTATOR POLICY
In compliance with the University policy, all individuals - regardless of vaccination status - must wear a mask when attending Friday's game at Jess Dow Field anytime fans are not sitting in their seat or unable to social distance.  

Spectators will be asked to practice social distancing whenever possible whether indoors or outdoors. There will not be restrictions on fan attendance, specifically related to capacity, but fans are asked to remain in small, communal groups and maintain social distance from other groups while in the stands whenever possible.   
  
SCSU continues to encourage fans and spectators to follow the guidance of public health officials, including social distancing and increased hand hygiene. Spectators will not be permitted near team benches or sidelines and may not interact with student-athletes before, during, or after the conclusion of the event on the playing fields/courts. Per University policy, the wearing of face masks is required in all campus buildings and at outside locations where social distancing is not possible.

OWL TOWN
For the first time, Southern Connecticut Athletics alumni will be welcomed to "Owl Town". SCSU Athletics and SCSU's Office of Alumni Relations have partnered to provide the opportunity to connect with fellow athletic alumni, meet coaches and players from all of our sports teams, as well as our new Athletic Director, Chris Barker! TICKET INFORMATION
As part of Southern Connecticut's Homecoming celebration, SCSU Athletics will not be charging for tickets to the homecoming game.  Instead we will be asking alumni and fans to donate to one of three designated charities:
  • Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation
  • Legos for Logan
  • Prostate Cancer Foundation

ALL-TIME AGAINST BENTLEY
  • Saturday's matchup will be the 23rd meeting between the Owls and Falcons, all-time, with Bentley hosting a 13-9 edge historically.
  • The Owls have won three of the last four meetings between the two teams, including a 31-17 win in Waltham in 2019.
  • Bentley has won four of the last five games in New Haven, with the Owls last win against the Falcons on their home turf coming on Oct. 29, 2016 when Southern rolled to a 35-13 win.
THE LAST TIME THEY MET
  • In their last meeting, on Oct. 12, 2019, the Owls posted a 31-17 victory at Bentley in a Northeast 10 Conference matchup in Waltham, Mass.
  • Freshman quarterback Jackson Ostrowsky was 28-for-36 for 405 yards and four touchdowns in the top performance of his young career. 
  • Brandon Swain-Price recorded 10 receptions for 201 yards and two touchdowns to become just the sixth wide receiver in program history to hit the 200-yards mark.
  • Owls leading receiver Julian Chung also had 10 catches for 129 yards.
  • Defensively, Matthew Weiss had five tackles including two sacks, giving him back-to-back games with a pair of QB takedowns, while Mekhi Barnett led the Owls with six tackles.
OWLS NOTES
  • Southern is coming off a 26-0 loss at Assumption on Friday, Oct. 8. The Greyhounds scored 17 points in the first quarter and pulled into halftime with a 26-0 lead.
  • The second half saw the Owls pitch a shutout against Assumption, keeping the Greyhounds off the board for the final 30 minutes of play. Southern's defense limited Assumption to just 117 yards of total offense down the stretch. 
  • Freshman running back Diante Wilson has been the highlight for the Owls' offense over the last three games, totaling 255 yards on 40 carries over that span. Wilson is also averaging 6.3 yards-per-carry during that time.
  • Southern's 181 rushing yards against Assumption were a season-best for the Owls, while its 32 rushes were also a season-high.
  • It was also the most the Owls ran for in one game since they went for 185 against Franklin Pierce on Oct. 5, 2019. 
  • The Owls' running game surpassed the 150-yard mark for the third time in its last four games after totaling 155 against Saint Anselm and 151 against AIC.
  • Wilson currently ranks eighth in the NE10 with 269 yards for the season.
  • T.J. Gardner's 48 carries rank 10th in the NE10 while his 5.0 yards-per-carry ranks sixth.
  • Izaiah Sanders is second in the NE10 with 29 catches and fourth with 412 yards.
  • Tylon Papallo also ranks among the conference leaders in receptions (17) and yards (257) while his 15.1 yards-per-reception ranks eighth in the NE10.
  • Shawn Martin is tied for the NE10 lead in kick-off returns (21) and is second with 460 return yards. His 21.9 yards-per-return ranks fifth in the conference.
  • Joel Kashila had the lone take-away for the Owls against the Greyhounds as his first career interception gave the Owls' secondary seven for the year and four in its last two games. Seven different Owls have recorded interceptions to date.
  • Hasan Dominick's sack in the game was his team-leading third of the season and he now has a team-best 38 tackles for the year, good for 10th in the NE10. His three sacks also rank third in the conference.
