Volleyball Falls to Bentley

WALTHAM, Mass. - The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team fell to Bentley University, 3-1 at the Dana Center. The Owls fall to 16-7 overall and 3-2 in the Northeast 10, while the Falcons improve to 9-7 overall and 5-1 in the NE10.

Junior Gabriela Gaibur (Monroe, N.Y.) was the offensive leader for Southern Connecticut. Gaibur had a team-high 18 kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Taylor Jones (Middletown, N.Y.) recorded 39 assists and eight digs, and libero Krishnalei So'oto (Oceanside, Calif.) chipped in 32 digs. Senior Erika Benson (Kings Park, N.Y.) chipped in 10 kills, five digs, and two blocks, while graduate student Gabriela Vazquez (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) had nine kills and five digs. 
 
Notes
  • Krishnalei So'oto topped a career-high in digs with 32 against Bentley. Her previous career-high of 28 came against Holy Family on Sept. 11.
  • This was So'oto's fourth-straight double-digit kill game, and third-straight 20-plus dig game.
  • Taylor Jones notched her fourth-straight double-digit assist game, and her eighth game with 30-or-more assists.
  • Kacey Deecher tallied her third-straight double-digit dig game of the season with 12 against Bentley. 
  • Erika Benson has picked up at least one block in 22 of the Owls 23 games this season.
  • Gabriela Gaibur collected her 14th double-double of the season with 18 kills and 10 digs against Bentley.
  • This was Gaibur's second highest kill game with 18. Her season-high is 19 kills against Holy Family on Sept. 11.
  • Abigail Epstein has recorded at least one service ace in 22 of the Owls 23 games this season.
  • Epstein has also picked up at least one block in each of the Owls 23 games played this season.
