NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team swept Adelphi University, 3-0, at Pelz Gymnasium. The Owls improved to 18-8 overall and 4-3 in the Northeast 10, while the Panthers fell to 14-8 overall and 3-4 in the NE10.

Abigail Epstein (Crystal River, Fla.) led the Owls on the offensive front with 15 kills, which was good for a .448% hitting percentage, and added 10 digs and two blocks. Sophomore
Krishnalei So'oto (Oceanside, Calif.) picked up 21 digs and two services. Sophomore
Taylor Jones (Middletown, N.Y.) tallied 31 assists, 10 digs and a block. Junior
Gabriela Gaibur (Monroe, N.Y.) registered 19 digs, and sophomore
Kacey Deecher (Granby, Mass.)Â and graduate student
Gabriela Vazquez (Vega Alta, Puerto Rico) both collected 11 digs each.

- This was the first time Southern Connecticut has swept Adelphi since 1996.
- This is the first time in series history between these two programs that Southern has won consecutive games against Adelphi.
- Southern had six players record at least 10 digs in a game for the first time since the 2017 NE10 Conference Tournament Championship game on Nov. 18 against New Haven. During that game, Vazquez recorded 23 digs, Anna Venard recorded 20 digs, Leanna Jadus recorded 18 digs, Alexandria Jurgens recorded 15 digs, Jillian Chambers recorded 13 digs, and Jennifer Dawson recorded 11 digs.Â
