Field Hockey Falls to No. 3 Assumption on Senior Day

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team fell to No. 3 nationally ranked Assumption, 8-0 on Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021. The Owls fall to 2-7 overall and 2-5 in the Northeast 10, while the Greyhounds improve to 10-1 overall and 8-0 in the NE10.

Junior Janelle Ward (Kitchener, Ontario) made 20 saves for the Owls in the loss. Junior Kaitlyn Bourque (Enfield, Conn.), sophomore Brianna Shaw (Branford, Conn.), and freshman Josephine Nolet (Haverhill, Mass.) all collected one shot each. 

Notes
  • This was Janelle Ward's seventh game in double digit saves, and her third-straight.
  • Ward leads the Northeast 10 conference in saves with 121.
