ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team fell to Dominican College, 69-63, at the Hennessy Center. The Owls fell to 1-2 overall, while the Chargers improved to 3-0.
Senior Zoë Amalbert (Nanuet, N.Y.) and graduate student
Jessica Fressle (Levittown, N.Y.) led the Owls in points with 16 each. Amalbert shot 50% from three-point range and 40% from the field, and added eight assists and a steal. In addition to her 16 points, Fressle grabbed eight boards, two steals and shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the stripe. Sophomore
Katie Williamson (Dublin, Ireland) shot 50% from the field, picking up 10 points in the process with nine rebounds and a steal.

How It Happened
- Dominican jumped out to an early 7-2 lead through the first two minutes. The Owls closed the gap and took the lead on a Patricia Conroy three-pointer, 9-7. Both sides traded shots and finished the quarter tied at 15.
- Quarter two began much how the first finished with both teams exchanging shots. Southern found a rhythm in the latter half of the quarter and led by as many as six points. The Owls went into halftime up by four points.
- The Chargers started the third quarter strong with nine unanswered points that allowed them to recapture the lead. A tug-o-war ensued midway through the quarter and saw four lead changes, but Dominican led by two as the two head into the final 10 of play.
- In the final quarter, Dominican scored eight points compared to the Owls two, and led by eight. Southern clawed its way back within two of the Chargers lead, but Dominican was able to ward off Southern's late-game push and went on to capture a six-point victory at home.
Notes
- Zoë Amalbert and Jessica Fressle have recorded double-digit points in all three of the Owls games this season.
- After going 5-for-5 from the free throw line against Dominican, Fressle is near perfect going 23-for-24 through the first three games.
- Patricia Conroy picked up her first double-digit point game in an Owl uniform.
- Delaney Connors has double-digit rebounds in the last two games. She had 12 boards against Bloomfield on Nov. 14 and 10 rebounds against Dominican.
- Dominican registered 26 of its 69 points off of turnovers.
- The Owls had 12 second chance points compared to the Chargers two.
