The Southern Connecticut State University women's basketball team will play the first of four-straight non-conference games when it travels to Caldwell University on Saturday, Dec. 11.
All-Time Against Caldwell: 3-1
Last Time They Met: These two programs have not squared off since Dec. 12, 2016. Caldwell captured the 67-55 win in New Jersey. Taylor McLaughlin and Abby Hurlbert led the way for the Owls with 14 points each.
Matchup Preview
- This will be the fifth time in program history that these two have faced one another. Southern captured the first three wins in 2004, 2005 and 2015 before Caldwell captured the victory in 2016.
- Southern's balanced offense has been the key to their attack through the first seven games. Jessica Fressle is currently averaging a double-double of 19.9 points per game and 13.0 rebounds per game. Patricia Conroy leads the Owls from three-point range with a shooting percentage of 44-percent and averages 10.7 points per game. Zoë Amalbert leads in assists (45) and steals (17). Delaney Connors is averaging 12.0 points per game and is second on the team in rebounds with 50.
- Caldwell's Paula Dits and Casey O'Shaughnessy will be the players to watch. Dits shoots 44-percent from the field and 42-percent from three-point range. She leads the team in rebounds with 85 and is second on the team in points 124. O'Shaughnessy leads the way in points for the Cougars with 127 and assists with 29 through nine games.
- Both teams are coming off wins as SCSU defeated Saint Rose in NE10 conference play and Caldwell defeated Nyack in CACC play.
