NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Jefferson University, 62-54, at Moore Field House. With the loss, the Owls fell to 6-3 overall, while the Rams improved to 9-2 overall.

Alexa Kellner (Stamford, Conn.) led all Owls in points with 19. Senior
Delaney Connors (West Hartford, Conn.) had 12 points, six rebounds, and two assists, while graduate student
Jessica Fressle (Levittown, N.Y.) posted 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals.

How It Happened
First Half
- Jefferson controlled the tempo in the first quarter that saw them score 12 unanswered points in the first four minutes of the game. The Rams went on to hold the Owls to single-digit scoring in the first quarter.
- Four different Owls scored down the stretch to pull Southern to 20-9 heading into the second quarter.
- The Rams held the lead until late into the second quarter when Southern blew up on a 7-2 run over the final 1:36 of the half with all seven points coming from Alexa Kellner.
- The Owls outscored Jefferson in the second frame, 14-10, on their way to a 30-23 deficit heading into halftime.
Second Half
- Both teams traded baskets over the first five minutes of the third quarter, keeping the Rams ahead, 40-33.
- Southern outscored Jefferson, 17-10, over the next four minutes, tying the game at 40-40, as Kellner, Jessica Fressle, and Delaney Connors all scored four points each.
- In total, the Owls outscored Jefferson, 19-12, in the third quarter to force a tied game heading into the final quarter of regulation.
- Less than two minutes into the fourth quarter, Connors gave the Owls their first lead of the game, 44-42, on a layup with 8:38 to play. Connors bucket was part of an 11-2 run for Southern that lead to the first lead change of the game.
- After Jefferson tied the game, they regained their lead, pushing ahead to a three-point advantage, 49-46, before Patricia Conroy knocked down a three-pointer to tie the game at 49-49 with five minutes to play.
- A basket by Fressle with just under two minutes to play cut into a 7-0 run by Jefferson and trimmed the Rams' lead to 56-51. Conroy chipped in another three-pointer to stop a 9-2 run by Jefferson, but it proved to be all the Owls could put together down the stretch as the Rams went on to capture an eight-point victory and snap Southern's winning streak.

- Alexa Kellner's 19 points are a season-high and the most that she has scored in a game since her 22-point performance against Franklin Pierce on Jan. 22, 2020.
- Kellner converted on 6-of-12 from the floor, including a pair of three-pointers, and also had a 5-for-5 showing at the free-throw line.
- Zoë Amalbert has recorded at least five assists in eight of Southern's nine games this season.
- Jessica Fressle has recorded double-digit points in all nine of the Owls' games this season.
