The No. 3 seeded Southern Connecticut State University softball team will host the No. 6 seeded American International College in the first round of the 2021 Northeast-10 Conference Tournament on Tuesday, May 4 at Pelz Field. 
 
Spectator Policy
Southern Connecticut State University Athletics will allow spectators at Pelz Field for this contest. All individuals are expected to wear masks during the contest as well as adhering to social distancing of six feet between all individuals, including those in their travel parties. Families and fans for visiting teams will not be permitted at this time.

2021 Series Leaders for the Owls Against AIC
  • Sara Buscetto batted .533 with five RBI, four runs and one stolen base.
  • Cailey Botteon batted .462 with five runs, four walks and one RBI.
  • Jessica Perucki batted .539 with seven RBI and three runs. In addition, Perucki snagged two of the Owls' wins in the circle with 18 strikeouts. 
 
Game Notes
  • This will be the first time the Owls have hosted a first round NE10 Tournament game since 2015 when they hosted Le Moyne.
  • Tuesday's game will mark the first time that Southern Connecticut has faced American International in a postseason game since 2010. That showing saw the Owls capture a 12-0 victory en route to the 2010 Northeast 10 Conference Championship, where Megan Caporossi earned the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the tournament.
  • Southern Connecticut has dropped four of their last five outings with three games to the College of Saint Rose and one to Pace University. 
  • American International has dropped their last 11 games. The Yellow Jackets last win came in their series against SCSU in game one on April 17. 
  • The Owls as a whole sit sixth in the conference in RBI with 105 this season, while the Yellow Jackets sit 12th with 68.

  • Sara Buscetto leads the conference in stolen bases with 22. Buscetto is also tied for sixth in runs scored with 22.
  • Jessica Perucki is fifth in innings pitched (81.1), while Jazmyn Martinez is tied for ninth (77.1)
  • Perucki and Martinez are tied for sixth in wins with seven each.
  • Perucki is fourth in strikes out 84, while Martinez is seventh with 66.
