The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team will hit the road for a Northeast-10 contest against Mercy College on Wednesday, Sept. 22.
Spectator Policy
Mercy College has released its spectator policy for the Fall 2021 season. More information on the spectator policies for each NE10 institution can be found

- Spectators must wear face masks whenever they go indoors, and outdoors when they cannot maintain social distancing. Mercy fans will be required to sit opposite the Mercy team bench; the opposing team's spectators will be required to sit opposite their team's bench. 6-foot social distancing is required between families or groups that came together, and congregation of fans is not permitted. No one shall be permitted to stand by the fence abutting the field.

The Last Time They Met: The last time these two sides met was on Oct. 9, 2019 where Mercy defeated SCSU, 2-1. Senior
Brianna Craft stopped three shots between the pipes for the Owls. Junior
Karley Welles notched her second goal of the season and topped a season-high in shots with seven, while junior
Jessica Maier had a season-high five shots.
Scouting the Game
- Mercy is coming off a 7-1 loss to No. 8 Stonehill, while SCSU is coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to No. 10 AIC.
- SCSU has scored four total goals this season, while Mercy has scored three. Every goal for each team was scored by a different player.
- Goalscorers for the Owls include: Alyssa Haskins, Kiley Jackson, Josephine Nolet, and Kaitlyn Bourque.
- Goalscorers for the Mavericks include: Lily Sherry, Kasey Volz, and Rachel Palladino.
- The Owls won the first four meetings between these two teams, while the Mavericks have captured the victory in the last two.
Last Time Out
The Owls dropped a 2-1 overtime heartbreaker to No. 10 American International College on Sept. 18.
- AIC scored one minute into the second quarter to break the deadlock after a scoreless first quarter.
- Alyssa Haskins scored her second career goal to tie the game just under two minutes into the fourth quarter with Brianna Shaw picking up her first career point on the Owls only goal in the contest.
- In goal, Janelle Ward stopped seven of the Yellow Jackets' nine shots-on-goal.
Notes
- Janelle Ward currently leads the NE10 with 62 saves against 76 shots-on-goal. Her .816 save percentage ranks fourth in the conference.
- Haskins scored her second career goal against AIC on Sept. 18. Her only other career goal came in a 3-2 overtime loss to AIC in 2018.
- Haskins is the fourth SCSU player to score a goal this season. She currently leads the team with three points, on the strength of one goal and one assist.
