How It Happened
  • Both squads jumped out of the gates with their offensive attack, but it was the Owls who benefited from a 7-1 run early on that allowed them to hold the lead and capture a set one victory.
  • The second set began in favor of the Setters who held the lead for the majority of the second showing. SCSU used a 7-2 run to tie it midway through the set, 17-17. The Owls offense put their feet on the gas and pulled away with an 8-2 run to secure the second set victory.
  • The final set was a tight scoring race from the start. Midway through the set, the Owls went on a 8-2 scoring run and gained an eight-point lead, 20-12. The Setters narrowed the gap and responded with a 6-2 run. SCSU picked up the three of the final four points in the set to secure the sweep.
