NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After a 655-day layoff, the Southern Connecticut State University volleyball team captured two victories in its season opener with a 3-0 win over Dominican College and a 3-1 win over Queens College.

Abigail Epstein (Crystal River, Fla.) led the Owls with 10 kills in game one, while
Gabriela Gaibur (Monroe, N.Y.) collected nine. Gaibur led the team in digs (10) and service aces (3).
Heliceliz Rivera (Corozal, Puerto Rico) notched 14 assists in her SCSU debut, while
Taylor Jones (Middletown, N.Y.) notched ten in hers.
Game 2 – (Southern Connecticut 3, Queens College 1)

Gabriela Gaibur and
Gabriela Vazquez (Meriden, Conn.) both collected their first double-doubles of the season. Gaibur tallied 13 digs and 10 kills, while Vazquez notched 11 digs and 10 kills.
Taylor Jones was also bright spot for the Owls in game two collecting 25 assists in the setter spot.
Abigail Epstein tacked onto her game one kill total and led all players with 13 in game two.
