The Southern Connecticut State University field hockey team will host Franklin Pierce in its home and NE10 conference opener at Jess Dow Field on Friday, Sept. 10. Both squads are coming off losses as the Owls fell to No. 5 Kutztown and Mansfield at the Degenero Classic on Sept. 5 and Sept. 6, and the Ravens fell to Saint Anselm, 6-1 on Sept. 4.Â

The Owls fell in both of their matchups at the Degenero Classic, hosted by Mansfield University. SCSU dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 5 Kutztown on Saturday, Sept. 4 before falling 3-0 Mansfield on Sunday, Sept. 5.Â
- Janelle Ward made 27 saves for Southern Connecticut. With her 27 saves, Ward tied Brianna Craft, who also had 27 saves on Sept. 12, 2017, for the second most saves in a single game in program history. The SCSU single-game program record is also held by Craft, as she had 29 saves on Sept. 28, 2019 against Assumption.Â
- Janelle Ward had double-digit saves in both games for Southern Connecticut.
- Megan Habakangas and Brianna Shaw collected one shot each in the Owls game against Mansfield.
