The Southern Connecticut women's hoops team will take the court for the first time since Jan. 8 to host Franklin Pierce in Northeast 10 conference play on Wednesday, Jan. 19. The Owls sit third in the Southwest Division, while the Ravens sit sixth in the Northeast Division.
Spectator Policy
Due to the university's decision to move to remote operations, Southern Connecticut Athletics has announced that spectators are prohibited from attending events at Moore Field House and Hutchinson Natatorium until further notice. University and athletic department officials will continue to monitor any changes to public health guidelines and adjust accordingly.
Last Time Out
The Owls fell to Bentley, 80-70, on Jan. 8. Zoë Amalbert led the way for Southern with a career-high 24 points on 8-12 shooting from the field and 5-7 shooting from three-point range

Last Time They Met: Franklin Pierce captured the last meeting, 79-56, on Jan. 22, 2020. Alexa Kellner recorded a career-high 22 points and notched a career-high eight field goals made.Â
Matchup Previews
- Zoë Amalbert is one to keep an eye on for the Owls. This season, Amalbert averages 14.4 points per game and 6.8 assists per game. She has double-digit points in all but two games and at least five assists in nine of her 12 games.
- In her last three games, Amalbert has shot 53-percent from the field and 57-percent from three-point range, while averaging 7.3 assists per game and 17.3 points per game.
- Delaney Connors has been an important contributor for Southern alongside Amalbert. In her last three games, Connors has shot 59-percent from the field and collect 57 points.
- Franklin Pierce has not played a game since Dec. 15, which was a 70-59 loss to Stonehill at home, while the Owls haven't taken the court since Jan. 8 against Bentley.
- The Owls are coming off of four-straight losses, three of which were in conference play against Pace, Adelphi, and Bentley.
- The Ravens are coming off of three-straight losses, three of which were in conference play against Bentley, Saint Anselm, and Stonehill.
- Franklin Pierce's leading scorer is at the hands of senior forward Emma Carter, who leads the team with 196 total points and averages 19.6 points per game. Lisa Sulejmani has been the playmaker for the Ravens. Sulejmani has started and played all 10 games and averages 4.1 assists per game, while also contributing 10 points per game.Â
- Another set of players to watch for Franklin Pierce are Ines Gimenez Monserrat and Gisela Vazquez Segura. The sophomore tandem combines for 120 rebounds, 47 assists, 42 steals, and 188 points through 10 games each.Â
Ranked in the Region
Southern Connecticut fell out of the top ten rankings in the East Region in the Jan. 10 Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA, but have still received votes in the last two weeks since. Other Northeast 10 Conference Schools ranked are: Southern New Hampshire (1), Pace (3), Le Moyne (4) Bentley (5), Le Moyne (6), Saint Anselm (9), while Stonehill is receiving votes alongside the Owls.Â

- Zoë Amalbert is first in the conference in total assists with 82 and first in assists per game with 6.8.Â
- Jessica Fressle is third in rebounds per game (10.6) and seventh in the conference in points per game (16.4). Fressle is also third in free throws made (66-81), fourth in total rebounds with 127 and fifth in points (197).
- Delaney Connors is tied for seventh in the conference in field goals with 63 this season.
- Patricia Conroy is tied for sixth in the conference in three-pointers made with 24 on the season.
- As a team, the Owls are first in the conference in three-pointers made (98), first in assists with 16.4 per game and third in points per game (68.8).Â
