The Southern Connecticut State University men's basketball team will head to Pleasantville, N.Y. to take on the Pace Setters on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022. This game was originally scheduled for Jan. 1.

Pace Spectator Policy 

• Spectators will be permitted in the Goldstein Recreation Center for athletic contests/scrimmages as of Jan. 22.
• Visitors over the age of 12 attending Pace University athletic contests or sponsored events will be required to show either: Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination, negative results of a COVID-19 PCR test administered no more than 72 hours prior to arrival on campus if you have a religious or medical exemption or fully recovered from previous infection of COVID-19 and proof of a positive test within 90 days of the event.
  • Beginning on Jan. 28, proof of vaccination will be required for all individuals over the age of five.
• Pace University is requiring that all invited guests wear a mask at Pace home indoor athletic events regardless of vaccination status.

Last Time Out
Southern fell to Assumption, 90-70, at Laska Gymnasium. Logan Bagshaw (Cumberland, Maine) led all players with 23 points on an efficient 6-of-8 shooting, 4-of-6 from three-point range, and 7-of-8 from the free throw line. Lyron Bennett (Boston, Mass.) scored 11 points, while C.J. Seaforth (Hamden, Conn.) and Zack Penn (New Hartford, Conn.) both scored 10 points each. 

All-Time Against Pace: 20-22 
Last Time They Met: Southern swept Pace during the 2019-2020 season in two tight matches. In their first meeting at Southern, the Owls won 64-61 behind 17 points and 11 rebounds fromTaurus Adams II. Seaforth finished with 16 points and three steals, while Isaiah Boissard (Walden, N.Y.) had 10 points.

Southern pulled off a thrilling 98-94 overtime win on the road in their second meeting on Feb. 11, 2020. Boissard scored a career and game-high 31 points on 9-of-14 shooting, including a perfect 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Greg Jones poured in 20 points and added nine rebounds, while Bennett scored 13 points and Seaforth registered 13 points, and nailed the game-tying three-pointer at the end of regulation.

Against Pace Southern has won four consecutive games dating back to the 2018-2019 season, 12 of their last 13 dating back to 2013-2014, and 17 of their last 20 games since 2010-2011.

Northeast 10 Weekly Honors
Week 7:

• Penn was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll he recorded a team-high 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting while also grabbing nine rebounds against Adelphi. His point total and field goals made were also new career-highs for a single game.

Week 6: 

• Bennett was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll following his performance against Holy Family. He recorded his second double-double of the season and third of his career with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Bennett also dished out six assists while shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Week 5:

• Bennett was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll following his performances against Saint Rose and Lincoln. Bennett averaged 12 points, nine assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game. 

Week 2:

• Coleman was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll after he scored 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting and 3-of-6 from three-point range on the road against Jefferson. He also recorded a career-high five steals to go along with three rebounds

Week 1

• Bennett was named to the NE10 Weekly Honor Roll following his performances at the Bridgeport Tournament. Bennett averaged 16 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game while going 11-for-17 from the field and 4-for-9 from three-point range. 

NE10 Ranks

• Bennett is fourth in assists per game at 5.3 and seventh in steals per game at 1.5.
• Penn is fifth in rebounds per game at 7.8.
• Jamaal Waters (Hartford, Conn.) is fourth in blocks per game at 1.2, while Penn is sixth at 1.1.
