The Southern Connecticut women's hoops team will travel to Garden City to face Adelphi in Northeast 10 action on Wednesday, Jan. 5. Heading into the matchup, the Owls sit third in the Southwest Division of the NE10, while the Panthers sit in sixth.

All-Time Against Adelphi: 11-19
Last Time They Met: The Owls fell to Adelphi, 88-64, on Feb. 25, 2020. Jessica Fressle had 18 points five rebounds, two blocks, and two steals in the loss to the Panthers. 


Matchup Previews

  • Alexa Kellner has shot at least 50-percent from the field in back-to-back games for the Owls with a combined 29 points. 
  • Delaney Connors has also been solid for Southern in their last two outings. She has notched back-to-back games of double-digit points for a combined 27 points.
  • The Owls are coming off of two-straight losses. A 62-54 loss to Jefferson on Dec. 18 and a 67-49 loss to Pace on Jan. 1. 
  • The Panthers last played on Dec. 12, in what was an 82-75 non-conference victory over Stonehill College. 
  • Adelphi had lost three-straight conference matchups against Le Moyne, American International, and Pace prior to their non-conference win over Stonehill.
  • Southern has not defeated Adelphi on the road since Dec. 2, 2017, when the Owls took a 68-63 victory. 
  • Emily Miccile is the leading point getter for Adelphi with 104 points this season. In addition to total points and points per game (11.6), Miccile leads the team in rebounds (63), rebounds per game (7.0) and total blocks (12).
  • Emma Cuccurullo will be another important Panther to watch. Cuccurullo leads the team in shooting percentage (46.8), assists (18), steals (18), and is second on the team in total points behind Miccile. 


Last Time Out
Southern fell to Pace, 67-49, on Jan. 1. Senior Delaney Connors led all Owls in points with 15, while collecting six rebounds and two assists. Junior Alexa Kellner shot 56-percent from the field and registered 10 points and six rebounds, while graduate student Jessica Fressle notched 11 points and six rebounds.


The Owls in the NE10

  • Zoë Amalbert is first in the conference in total assists with 64 and first in assists per game with 6.4. 
  • Jessica Fressle is fourth in rebounds per game (11.1) and sixth in the conference in points per game (17.7). Fressle is also third in total rebounds with 111 and sixth in points (177).
  • Patricia Conroy is second in the conference in three-pointers made with 22 on the season.
  • As a team, the Owls are first in the conference in three-pointers made (81), second in assists with 16.2 per game, fifth in the conference in rebounds per game with 42.0 and fifth in steals per game with 8.9.


The Owls in the NCAA

  • Zoë Amalbert is third overall in assists per game (6.4) and 11th in total assists (64).
  • Jessica Fressle is 15th in rebounds per game (11.1) and tied for 32nd in total rebounds (111).
  • As a team, the Owls are 35th in NCAA Division II in assists per game (16.2).
