The Southern Connecticut women's hoops team returns to Moore Field House for its first home game of 2022 as they host Bentley on Saturday, Jan. 8. The Falcons current sits first in the Northeast Division of the Northeast 10, while the Owls sit third in the Southwest Division.
Spectator Policy
Due to the university's decision to move to remote operations, Southern Connecticut Athletics has announced that spectators are prohibited from attending events at Moore Field House and Hutchinson Natatorium until further notice. University and athletic department officials will continue to monitor any changes to public health guidelines and adjust accordingly.
Last Time Out
The Owls were defeated by Adelphi in NE10 play, 75-70, on Jan. 5.
Delaney Connors and
Zoë Amalbert had career days in an Owl uniform. Connors shot 71-percent from the field en route to a career-high 29 points, while Amalbert topped a career-high in assists with 11, while shooting 50-percent from the field en route to a 19-point performance.

Last Time They Met: Bentley doubled up Southern the last time they met on Jan. 11, 2020, 101-52.

Matchup Previews
- Delaney Connors has been on a surge for Southern Connecticut. Connors has double-digit points in five straight games and is averaging 14.1 points per game. In her last three games, she has recorded 56 total points and shot 52.2-percent from the field. She topped a career-high in points against Adelphi on Jan. 5 with 29-points and accounted for 41-percent of the Owls' total points.
- Zoë Amalbert is another player to keep an eye on for the Owls. This season, Amalbert averages 13.5 points per game and 6.8 assists per game. She has double-digit points in all but two games and at least five assists in eight of her 11 games. She has also averaged 7.67 assists per game in her last three outings.
- The Owls are coming off of three-straight losses, two of which were in conference play against Pace and Adelphi.
- The Falcons have lost just one conference this game this season against Southern New Hampshire, 65-53.
- Bentley has captured the last six meetings between both teams. The last time the Southern beat Bentley was at home on Jan. 10, 2015, where the Owls took a 65-62 victory.
- Some Players to Watch on the Bentley side are Ella Thompson and Autumn Ceppi. Both have started all nine games for the Falcons this season. Thompson averages 14 points per game with a team-leading 126 points. Ceppi averages 12.7 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game, and is second on the team in points with 114 this season, while shooting 49.5-percent from the field.
- Bentley's last outing was a 72-59 victory over MIT. Ceppi led the team in points with 17 points, and collected six rebounds and two assists. MIT was able to hold off Thompson who was limited to just eight points, but had four boards, three assists and a steal. Kari Brekke (13) and Amanda Kabantu (12) also picked up double-digit points in the win.

Southern Connecticut is currently ranked No. 9 in the East Region in the Jan. 3 Women's Basketball Division II Media Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA. Other Northeast 10 Conference Schools ranked are: Southern New Hampshire (2), Pace (3), Bentley (4), Le Moyne (6), Saint Anselm (8), while Assumption is receiving votes.

- Jessica Fressle is fourth in rebounds per game (10.8) and sixth in the conference in points per game (16.8). Fressle is also third in total rebounds with 119 and fifth in points (185).
- Delaney Connors is tied for sixth in the conference in field goals with 59 this season.
- Patricia Conroy is tied for third in the conference in three-pointers made with 22 on the season.
- As a team, the Owls are first in the conference in three-pointers made (86), second in assists with 16.3 per game, fifth in the conference in rebounds per game with 40.8 and sixth in steals per game with 8.5.
