SCSU Women's Swimming & Diving Repeats As Northeast 10 Conference Champions

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Southern Connecticut State University Women's Swimming & Diving team repeated as Northeast 10 Conference Champions with a convincing win against the conference field. The Owls, who won in 2020 as well, have now four of the last five NE10 titles (2022, 2020, 2018, 2017) and 14 since the Owls joined the conference in 2003. Southern has never finished lower than second place at the NE10 Championships.

For the weekend, the Owls accounted for 18 total medals – five Gold, seven Silver and six Bronze. Arianna Arturi captured a team-high six medals including Gold in the 200 and 400 Yard Freestyle Relays. Freshman Justice Glasgow won four Gold medals, as well as a Silver in the 400 Medley Relay. Nicole Cislo, competing in her final conference championship, also had four medals, including Silver in the 400 Medley Relay, 200 Medley Relay and 200 Yard Breaststroke and a Gold in the 200 Medley Relay. Ella Marzec and Olivia Strelevitz both took home four medals, each winning three Golds including three relay together.

To start the final day of the four-day event, Faith Littleton finished second in the 1,650 Yard Freestyle with a time of 17:50.40. Littleton won the championship as a freshman in 2020 and has medaled in the event in back-to-back years. Natalie Weier and Gracie Marsh finished fifth and sixth, respectively.

In the 200 Yard Backstroke, Maddie Dean won her third medal of the weekend with a third-place finish for Bronze with a time of 2:07.66. Olivia Strelevitz was close-behind in fourth place at 2:07.84. Arturi then won her fifth medal with a third-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle event with a time of 53.05.

Lindsay McCawley won the 200 Yard Breaststroke Championship with a time of 2:23.32, finishing alongside senior Nicole Cislo, who captured Silver, with a time of 2:24.73. Rebekah Lockery came in fifth with a time of 2:29.86. Glasgow then turned in a fourth-place finish in the 200 Yard Butterfly at 2:13.40.  

In the 1 Meter Diving event, Nicholle Denault finished fourth out of eight with 374.85 points, taking in 15 points for the Owls.
