Former Owls All-American Jacques Cesaire Named Houston Texans Defensive Line Coach

HOUSTON, Texas - Former Southern Connecticut State University Football All-American Jacques Cesaire was named the National Football League's Houston Texans Defensive Line Coach, as announced by the Texans on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2022. Cesaire spent the last two seasons with the NFL's Buffalo Bills as the assistant defensive line coach. 

After completing his career at SCSU in 2002, Cesaire signed as an undrafted free agent with the San Diego Chargers. With the Chargers, Cesaire played 125 career games totaling 217 tackles and 12.5 sacks, including a career-best six in 2006. 

As a senior at Southern Connecticut, Cesaire was a NCAA/AFCA Division II All-American and was also named the Northeast 10 Conference Defensive Player of the Year. he finished ranked among Southern's all-time leaders in single-season and career sacks, finishing with the second-most in program history. Cesaire was announced as part of the SCSU Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2020.
